University of Applied Sciences in the Performing Arts (Manufacture)

The University of Applied Sciences in the Performing Arts, the Manufacture, opened its doors in Lausanne in September 2003, in a former factory in Malley. It is the only school for higher education in the performing arts in French-speaking Switzerland, and the only in French-speaking Europe to combine high-level education in danse and theatre on a single site. It has been part of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland (HES-SO) since 2008.

The Manufacture offers a Bachelor’s degree in theatre for actors, a Bachelor’s degree in contemporary dance for dancers and, within the “Master Campus Theater CH” (MCTS) programme, a Masters in Theatre for directors and set designers. Today, the Manufacture is a benchmark in the international landscape of performing arts schools.
