Ecole cantonale d’art de Lausanne (ECAL)
The École cantonale d’art de Lausanne, or ECAL, is regularly ranked among the top ten art and design schools in the world. It offers six Bachelor’s degree programmes and five Master’s degree programmes. It also offers a Propaedeutic Year preparing students for entry into its departments as well as two Masters of Advanced Studies (MAS). The six Bachelor’s-level programmes include: Visual Arts; Film, Graphic Design; Industrial Design; Media & Interaction Design, and Photography. The five Master’s-level programme include: Visual Arts; Film; Product Design; Photography, and Type Design. The two Masters of Advanced Studies explore Design for Luxury & Craftsmanship and Design Research for Digital Innovation (with the EPFL+ECAL Lab).
The success of its former students, countless press articles, regular citations in specialist and consumer magazines and an enviable number of exhibitions in prestigious venues all attest to the school’s influence at European and global level. Over the years, the ECAL has considerably increased the number of its collaborations with art and design universities around the world as well as with leading companies in a wide range of fields.
